Barcelona is a very baby-friendly city and is a perfect destination for your first family vacation to Europe with your baby. Barcelona was our first trip as new parents, taking our 3-month old daughter. We had such a great time with our baby in Barcelona, that it inspired us to create Baby Can Travel.
Now that you’ve decided to visit Barcelona with a baby, we’ll help you find a baby-friendly hotel in the best areas to stay in Barcelona.

Where to Stay in Barcelona with a Baby
The best location for your baby-friendly Barcelona hotel depends on your priorities:
If you are visiting Barcelona to see the sights or visit the beach, your best bet will be to stay within the Gothic Quarter, which has it all for travelling parents. Most of the baby-friendly things to do in Barcelona are in the Gothic Quarter and can be easily reached by walking with a stroller.
The Gothic Quarter has tons of baby-friendly restaurants, amenities, pharmacies and grocery stores. One area within the Gothic Quarter to consider avoiding is the popular pedestrian street La Rambla as it may be a little loud for a baby trying to sleep.
If you are visiting Barcelona with your baby primarily for shopping, your best bet will be to stay in Eixample. This upscale area features less tourist attractions but features more high-end shopping and restaurants.
Baby-Friendly Barcelona Vacation Home Rentals
Being our first trip with a baby, we blindly did as we always do on vacation – we rented a hotel room. Everything went great with our Barcelona hotel, but as we traveled more with our baby we discovered the advantages of staying in vacation home rentals with our baby.
Vacation home rentals (like VRBO or Airbnb) have many family-friendly features, especially for those traveling with a baby. The biggest advantage is having separate bedrooms, which allows you to keep your bedroom lights on while your baby gets to sleep in a dark room.
Other baby-friendly features of vacation home rentals include a full kitchen and in-suite laundry facilities.
