Are you a parent who loves to travel with your little ones? Going on the road to different destinations with young children can be both exciting and challenging. One item that we always pack, because it makes life easier and travel more convenient with our toddler, is a travel booster chair.

Designed for on-the-go families, a baby travel booster seat is compact, easy to use, and cleans up with little to no effort. They are the perfect gift for that mom-to-be, especially since traveling parents will get a ton of use out of this essential baby travel gear from the baby stages (when baby starts solid food) all the way through those early toddler stages.

At our baby shower, we unwrapped what has now become our favorite gift and go-to present: the hiccapop OmniBoost Travel Booster Seat.

The hiccapop OmniBoost Travel Booster Seat is one of the best travel highchairs and it doubles as the cutest baby lawn chair. We had registered for a highchair to keep in the house but had not given any thought to a travel highchair.

Not only is the hiccapop OmniBoost easy to travel with, it’s the perfect booster seat for picnics, the beach, and camping. Having used it since our son was a baby, it has remained one of our best toddler travel essentials now that he is older.

Why Choose the hiccapop OmniBoost Travel Booster

We began using the hiccapop OmniBoost Travel Booster Seat at the park when our son was five months old. It’s a very portable travel chair for our little guy to sit in as we either had a picnic or just sat enjoying the day that we started using the travel chair as soon as he could start to sit up.

The chair has safety straps that help to support a little one still getting the ropes of sitting up. We used the snap-in tray for his toys and books to replicate an on-the-go activity center.

This chair is perfect for outdoor events and it’s come with us to a few wineries in town. It was so nice being able to sit next to him all in our lawn chairs.

This chair works very well at the beach or for camping. We have taken the chair to beaches in California and Hawaii where our little guy feels like one of the adults sitting on the beach.

It’s great to pull out during lunchtime or for a quick snack to keep food from getting too sandy. The cloth seat dries easily so we have also taken the chair out to the shoreline to splash in the water together.

This chair has become one of our toddler camping essentials, it creates a safe place for our toddler to hang out around the campsite while we are getting dinner ready. Since this hiccapop OmniBoost highchair has a travel bag, it’s been very simple to sling over our shoulder to carry out to the beach and pack compactly with camping supplies.

We also packed the hiccapop OmniBoost Travel Booster Seat for our travel highchair on a 3-month international trip and we are so glad we did.

Our favorite thing about this travel booster seat is that we could use it while out and about, having a picnic in the park, or when a high chair wasn’t available at a restaurant.

Our toddler now knows the setup routine and to come grab his tray and sit down while we strap him in. While we still deal with some food tossing and spills, this booster seat for travel has been a huge help to manage the chaos and provide consistency for mealtime when traveling.

hiccapop OmniBoost Travel Booster Top Features

The iccapop OmniBoost Travel Booster Seat is a collapsible travel highchair with an attachable tray stored in a convenient travel bag with a shoulder strap that retails for around $40. The chair sits low to the ground to help provide sturdiness and comes with attachable “duck feet” to help improve stability.

One of the best features of this travel booster seat is that it can be used as a standalone or strapped to a chair, giving the utmost versatility. Additional straps are available connect the seat to a chair to use like a proper booster seat. When a chair isn’t available, the booster seat works well on its own.

Size: The product dimensions are 7.01″D x 15.59″ W x 6.89″H.

Safety Harness: The hiccapop OmniBoost booster seat for travel has a very easy-to-use buckle system at the waist that is adjustable to secure your little one while remaining comfortable. The tray snaps into the armrests when needed and is dishwasher safe for an easy clean.

Weight: The entire chair weighs just over 4 lbs – it feels very lightweight to carry.

Colors & Fabric: The booster seat comes in three colors: gray, blue, and teal. The entire chair cover can be removed and is machine washable, which has been a huge plus with meals like spaghetti.

There is a rear mesh pocket on the chair that can be used for bibs or spoons and we have also used for for a few toddler travel toys. The travel bag has a zippered pouch, which is a great storage spot for utensils and sanitary supplies.

Why We Loved the hiccapop Booster Seat for Travel

We love that this product is versatile and easy to use. The ability to throw the seat over your shoulder, get to your destination, pop it open, and drop your little one in makes this a very convenient travel item.

Easy Set-Up

Set-up is very simple lock the legs down, buckle your child in, and snap the tray in. This has been a huge help when we have an impatient toddler.

Easy Cleaning

Cleaning is effortless as well with a tray that can be wiped down or go through the dishwasher in addition to the cloth seat, which comes off easily and can be thrown in the washing machine. With a toddler, it always feels like we need to overpack.

Extra Storage

We love the zippered carrier pocket and a back mesh pocket to organize those pesky loose items and eating accessories.

Easy to Pack

We are grateful for an item that packs well making, it an easy decision to throw in the car bag when we aren’t sure what the day will hold.  While there are other options between highchairs, booster seats, or play chairs, this travel booster seat high chair covers all use cases and adds a leisure aspect.

We have been using this product from the age of 5 months to 18 months and love that it has evolved from a baby seat in the outdoors to a staple for travel mealtimes with our toddler.

What Could Be Improved on the hiccapop Travel Booster Seat

The hiccapop OmniBoost Travel Booster Seat is a quality versatile product that we’ve got a ton of use out of. We love that the product is sturdy and comes with additional duck feet for balance. However, we now have a very independent toddler who actively tries to escape and can roll it over when the travel seat is on the ground. So, like with any travel highchair, we need to constantly watch him when we are using it.

If we had to find one thing to improve, we think the buckles and straps could be of better quality.

Our final critique is truly a trade-off, we love that this booster seat fits a variety of purposes but is a slightly bulkier item. Fabric highchairs are more compact for travel but they lose the ability to use the chair on its own.

hiccapop OmniBoost Compared to Other Portable Highchairs

There are a variety of travel booster seats and highchairs on the market between fabric harnesses, attachable highchairs, and portable highchairs. In reviewing other products, we are glad we have a portable travel chair to use on its own and outside mealtime.

In our opinion, the hiccapop OmniBoost Booster seat offers the best bang for your buck.

One popular item is The Original Easy Seat Portable High Chair.  Most fabric highchairs are priced between $20-40. While fabric highchairs are great for packing, needing a chair can be a limiting factor when considering the potential to use this chair camping, in a hotel room, or at the park.

There are other products that are slightly bulkier that provide padding underneath like the Nuby Easy Go High Chair Booster Seat.

Attachable highchairs are also a great compact item that can transform an item into a highchair very easily. The Inglesina Fast Table Chair is a great product that simply requires a flat surface to attach the travel chair to for mealtimes. We have this item as well and use it as our full-time highchair at home.

It really is a great product as it leaves no damage on the table, puts our baby right next to us for feeding time, and is machine washable. It is a slightly more expensive item, around $80.

While the Inglesina Fast Table Chair folds well for packing, we opted to not use this as our travel chair due to the limitation of needing a table versus being able to use it anywhere.

Having a portable travel chair was our top consideration knowing the different scenarios we use this travel item beyond eating at a dinner table. The hiccapop OmniBoost Booster Seat is a very highly rated item but is not the only portable booster seat available.

hiccapop OmniBoost vs Summer Infant Pop ‘N Sit

The most notable competitor is the Summer Infant Pop ‘N Sit. The chairs look almost identical with the difference coming down to the details. The Pop ‘N Sit has a dishwasher-safe tray but the seat cover is not machine washable. The OmniBoost has a one-button buckle release vs the Pop ‘N Sit’s two buttons.

The OmniBoost tray can swing open one way without having to be completely removed whereas the Pop N’ Sit has no swivel. Pop ‘N Sit does not come with duck feet for added stability and is rated for less weight.

While the Pop ‘N Sit lacks a lifetime warranty (offered by the OmniBoost), it does sell for less than $30. Another model Summer Pop ‘N Sit SE is available for $34. This model has a machine washable cover and one-button safety harness, essentially evening the playing field.

While these products are almost identical, we are partial to the hiccapop OmniBoost for its quality, positive reviews, and how convenient it is to use.
