Why Choose the Bombol Pop-Up Booster

As a family of four, we travel often, mainly because my husband and kids come with me on business trips. We usually travel within the United States and drive with our two-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter.

When we are on the road, we are usually gone for 2-3 weeks at a time. Because the road trips are long, we stop at hotels overnight on the way to our final destination. This requires us to pack as lightly as possible so that we can transition from our vehicle to our lodging with ease. We love how easy the Bombel is to pack with our toddlers’ car travel toys.

It is quite a challenge considering how many things children need for sleeping, eating, and playing. My husband and I are always looking for compact solutions and recently discovered the wonderful world of a travel high chair seat for our toddler.

It is really important to have a travel booster chair on the road. Many restaurants don’t have boosters available and in some cases, the booster seats aren’t always clean. Additionally, most hotels don’t have high chairs in the room which means holding a busy toddler or trying to keep them seated on a towel on the floor when we want to eat in the room. Bombol is the travel booster seat for eating while on the road.

Last year, we purchased the Summer Pop N’ Sit Booster Chair. I initially loved how easily it folded up and that it could be carried in a small tote bag. It was lightweight and could be set up in a chair in no time at all.

As we traveled more, I realized that we needed a travel booster high chair that could fit inside our luggage. I also wanted a booster that felt more durable. As I was doing my research, I was given the opportunity to test out the Bombol pop-up booster, which was a completely new brand to me. I was skeptical at first, but am really happy that we have this product!

Our Experience With the Bombol Pop-Up Booster (Pros)

Folds Completely Flat

When not in use, the seat folds completely flat! This is hands down my favorite feature about this seat. This means it can be stored in suitcases and diaper bags without taking up unnecessary room.

The flat folding feature came in handy at the hotel. We hung the seat on a chair with the straps, which kept us from having to look for it when my toddler got hungry. It also made it easy to grab and go when we would go out to eat.

It is a tiny but mighty chair.

Sturdy Design

This chair is lightweight but that doesn’t mean that it is weak by any means! It was built to withstand a lot of weight and is structurally sound. When you fully secure the booster seat in a chair, you can feel how sturdy it is. It isn’t going anywhere!

Other booster seats are made of materials like mesh which doesn’t provide a firm backrest, but this booster chair has a backrest that can withstand a lot of bouncing and movement.

Harness System

The 5-point harness system is the best I have seen on a travel booster. Most other travel seats offer a 3-point harness. The 5-point harness easily fits around a child’s shoulders and across the chest, ensuring they will stay in place.

If your child doesn’t need 5 points, it can be turned into a 3-point harness for added flexibility. It is similar to a car seat harness and my son had no issues with it while he was eating.

Because the seat is lighter and smaller than others on the market, this gave me ultimate peace of mind that my son would be secure even when he did his Superman moves over dinner! In our times using it, I have never worried that my son might fall out or tip it over.

Fits on Any Chair

The Bombol is designed to fit most chairs and even can fit chairs with armrests. This comes in handy when we are visiting my parents or sitting outside on patio furniture. Our son was able to sit right up at the table since the seat doesn’t keep the chair from going right up to the table.

Easy to Clean

The booster seat itself is easy to clean. The materials can handle the typical messes that a toddler makes while eating. The straps are also removable and can be washed. I have found that with other travel boosters, it is much harder to remove the material because of how it is attached to the chair frame.

High Weight Limit

The booster seat boasts a 75-pound weight limit. This is double the weight limit of other travel booster seats which means we can use this seat for a lot longer with our toddler.

Easy to Pack Back Up

When mealtime is done, the booster seat folds up just as easily as it folded out. You push together the block until it clicks. Once it is unlocked, you just squeeze the backrest and fold it up.

Ease of Set Up

When it is time to set up the booster seat, you simply pull the red circular tab until you hear it click. This literally takes a few seconds. Once it is clicked in, the seat is fully expanded and ready to be secured in a chair.

The next part is to take and undo the buckle and fasten it around the seat you will be putting the booster. Once the buckles are secured, tighten them until it is firmly secured to the seat. The buckles are quite long so that the travel booster can fit many different-sized chairs. This entire process takes about two minutes to fully set up.

If you are ever in doubt you can scan a QR code to get instructions which is printed on the seat and product box.

What Could be Improved (Cons)

I have very few things that could be improved. The Bombol booster seat has been engineered almost to perfection.

One issue we had was with the seat cover. It didn’t fit very well over some seats and was hard to keep up with since it didn’t attach to the booster seat. Earlier models of the booster seat did come with a seat cover and bag to store everything.

I wish that feature was still available since we lost track of the seat cover many times on our trip. It would be nice if the cover was attached to the seat

After a month of use, the booster seat is starting to fray on the edges. We put a lot of wear and tear on our travel items so this could be the case. The fraying has not compromised the seat, and I think this could be remedied if we have a dedicated bag or cover for the seat.

Where to Buy the Bombol Pop-Up Booster

The Bombol Pop-Up Booster isn’t widely available, but besides purchasing it directly you can add it along with your other baby travel gear purchases at these two retailers:

Final Thoughts on the Bombol Pop-Up Booster Seat

The booster is priced pretty high ($129.99) compared to other travel booster seats like the Summer Pop N’ Sit which retails at around thirty-five dollars. You really do get a great product that is worth the money. I highly recommend that you consider purchasing if you want products that you can easily store.

If you are on the road a lot and are tired of having to fit oblong-shaped boosters in your luggage then this seat is for you.

One last thing I want to mention is that you may have to orient yourself to the new folding style of the seat. While my husband was able to set it up right away, I needed a few demonstrations to get the hang of it. I had to watch the video a few times before I got the hang of folding and unfolding the seat.

Our family loves the Bombol pop-up booster and it is now one of our essential travel items for our toddler!
